Misspelled keywords in a Google search (other search engines are available) or in the title of a tender notice can mean missed opportunities for businesses that rely heavily on SEO but offer something that might be tricky to spell.
As a company that sell and service UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supplies), this is a potential problem.
In the last 2 weeks alone, I have seen ‘uninterruptible’ spelled ‘uninteruptible’ (in a government health and safety bulletin) and ‘uninterruptable’ (on the HMRC commodity code list) as well as ‘uninterupted’ (in the title of a tender notice) instead of uninterrupted.
The above examples are clearly evidence that we can’t simply rely on people using autocorrect or search engines recognising commonly misspelled words. And obviously we can’t misspell it on our own website and posts because that would just make us look like we don’t know what we sell….
So, what can we do to make sure we are not losing business to typos?
